Clearing marks is also not worth an action in the vast majority of fights-it won’t guarantee that the target doesn’t get hit anyhow and you can probably avoid damage more efficiently by attacking, or using a guard ability to control who gets attacked. Curing stun sounds great but spending 1 action to recover 1 action is a wash, and it’s very situational that the turn order works out that you can cure it in time anyhow. The buff is laughably tiny, the only reason to use this would be the clear effects. Helps mitigate incidental damage, can stack heal buffs on itself to heal decent amounts over several turns in lazy combats, combos nicely with Occultist who also synergizes with marks.įlare: Bad. Since the most common scenario for this is surprise rounds when things aren't dead yet it's still very handy.īattle Bandage: Solid. Not very good with corpses on the field but it’s the Arbalest’s only attack if she gets shuffled into the front. It’s both an AOE and the Arbalest’s only reliable way to hit enemies in the front rank, which can also push them further back where she can shoot them better.īlindfire: Solid. Not very useful by itself, but worthwhile against very large targets and with teammates to help abuse it.īola: Solid. Can be upgraded with +DMG% to be a decent AOE attack in its own right. Useful for chip damage, debuff is very minor but doesn’t hurt. A very decent basic attack, with great accuracy and crit% to make up for her mediocre base damage. Her trinkets do not especially support specialization either, other than “AOE spammer” which is kind of the de facto best role anyhow.
A secondary problem is that she has a broad range of skills but does not have much reason to specialize with 6 of 7 skills having the same launch positions, there are only 2 viable positions for the Arbalest and they have identical skill options. The main balance problem posed is her tendency to monopolize the 4th row due to lack of good classes to stick back there, but that’s not an issue with the Arbalest herself. She does a good job of pulling her weight without trivializing encounters and has a wide range of interesting abilities.
The Arbalest has a nice class design overall.
